At SportLeash, we're all about healthy living and taking our dogs with us wherever we go. And when we're on the go a lot, having the right gear is crucial.
From bottom to top - shoes, socks, pants/shorts, shirts (and the accessories you use in between) - each component is important for those who live active lifestyles like we do. Especially when our pups are right there at our side!
In our view, the best active apparel / gear optimizes two things:
1.) Function
2.) Style
So here is the Complete Active Dog Owner (Men's) Guide to some of our favorites that combine the two. This is the gear we sweat and sweat in while living that active dog owner life.
Arguably the most important piece of clothing or accessory for everyone (dog owner or not) are the shoes on your feet. For most people, feet are the only body part in constant contact with the surface of the Earth - and if you're on your feet running around a lot like we are, having running shoes that hold up over time while looking good in the process is imperative. And since we don't have paws, we think a good pair of sneakers is the next best option...
Our two current favorites are:
1.) Under Armour Speedform Apollo
2.) Nike Free 4.0 Flyknit
Why we sweat them / like sweating in them:
-Lightweight, durable, many unique colorways to chose from, and extremely sexy looking.
Under Armour Speedform Apollo in colorway Hi Vis/Black (Personal favorite of SportLeash CEO)
Nike Free 4.0 Flyknit in colorway Black/White/Psn Green/Ttl Orng
I have a fairly serious obsession with crazy socks. And while they aren't as important as shoes, for me, they're pretty damn close. Ever since the Stance socks company came to market a few years ago, my life has been complete. I digress...
The SportLeash top picks these days in the active socks category are:
1.) Stance (Any style, any collection)
2.) Darn Tough No Show Ultralight
Why we sweat them / like sweating in them:
Awesome/unique colorways, durable, comfortable (great cushioning), high stitch count, socks stay in place while running, biking, walking, etc...And Super Athletes wear them.
Stance "Colada" from the Dwyane Wade Collection in Blue colorway
Darn Tough No Show Ultralight in Charcoal colorway
It may seem like shorts are shorts are shorts, but not in our view. Is the material comfortable? Do they wrinkle easily? Can they be washed and hold their quality? Are there pockets to hold accessories and personal items? Can they be worn to places other than the gym or workout? These are the types of questions that we like to ask when we pick out our shorts. Here are a few of our faves...
1.) Nike Phenom 2-in-1
2.) The Mako (or any short in the line of shorts) by Rhone Apparel
Why we sweat them / like sweating in them:
Nike Phenom - lightweight, dri FIT sweat proof technology, classic, athletic style, built-in compression shorts
Rhone - Quick dry, lightweight, zipper stash pocket, media pocket, multi-functional style, inspirational quote on every inside hem

When it comes to shirts, we like to stick to the tried and true. The simple, the functional, the classics. Our favorite picks for all around quality and function in the active t-shirt space are made by Nike and Under Armour, two brands that have influenced our vision for SportLeash. Specifically, we are currently rockin':
1.) Nike Miler Running Singlet
2.) Under Armour coldblack® Run Short Sleeve
Why we sweat them / like sweating in them:
Dry FIT (Nike), anti sweat technology, excellent breathability, coldblack® technology (Under Armour) helps shirt stay cool in hotter temps, patterns and colors for every style preference, flat seems that don't chafe, reflective materials for night time visibility, durability over the long term, can be worn outside of the gym or workout.

We at SportLeash have been looking for functional, stylish accessories designed specifically for dog owners for years and have come up short. So we decided to make them.
Of course, if you're looking for the best dog collars like a sport dog collar, neoprene dog collar, stylish dog collar ... or the best dog leashes - maybe a hands free dog leash, or the best dog leash for running, we have you covered - just check out the collections of dog collars and leashes on our site.
But we didn't get in this business to be another collar and leash company - we do what we do because we love our dogs, we take them everywhere, and we want to create products that are innovative, and enhance the lives of active dog owners.
IE: The SportPack ... The best running sport pack for dog owners on the market today.
We sweat and sweat in the The SportPack because of the features:
- DryRun™ Technology, the fabric of choice for the U.S. Armed Forces (Wicks moisture away from the body up to 6 times faster than other fabrics.)
-Coated with natural and environmentally safe antimicrobial properties (A.M.Y.®). which inhibits the growth of odor-causing bacteria, mold, mildew and algae on the fabric and allow extender garment life with less discoloration and degradation.
-Waist swivel allows you hands-free freedom while your dog enjoys 160 range of motion.
-Convenient pocket for keys, wallet, etc. - never leave your keys or wallet at home again!
-Built-in phone pocket - (feel free to toss out that annoying arm band that will never stay in place.)
-Poo-bag holder - don't ever worry about forgetting another poo bag!
-Waist attachment easily unclips and turns into a regular leash within seconds allowing you to walk your dog traditionally, easily secure your dog to a fixture, or simply use the pack without your dog.
