Yes. You are reading the title of this article correctly. According to KOMO News, a Seattle dog has been riding the bus by herself - to the dog park.
Her name is Eclipse, and she's a black lab who Seattle commuters have confirmed seeing taking the bus multiple times in recent weeks alone, sans her owner, Jeff Young. Eclipse gets off at the stop for the local dog park.
According to Young, Eclipse started heading out on her own because she didn't want to wait for him to finish his cigarette. Frankly, I don't blame Eclipse one bit - playing in the park is much better for you than second hand smoke. I wouldn't wait around either!
Even though the city encourages and hopes all owners keep their pets on a leash, there haven't been too many complaints from passengers who ride with Eclipse. In fact, Eclipse has apparently made a lot of friends on the bus, all the drivers know her by name, and she has her own commuter pass so she's a normal, paying customer. What a world we live in, huh?!!
One passenger, Tiona Rainwater, was quoted saying "All the bus drivers know her. She sits here just like a person does...She makes everybody happy. How could you not love this thing?"
Young says he gets calls from people finding his dog all the time and his response is always that "she's fine" - which I'm glad to hear that the dog is fine but maybe Eclipse is trying to tell her owner that a little less cigarette smoking and a little more TLC would be nice. Or who knows?! Maybe Eclipse just likes doing her own thing! Either way, it's a pretty wild story.
