Winter is upon us, and as much as the cold weather isn't always the most fun, there's a lot of enjoyable aspects about the winter. Cozy clothing, warm fireplaces, hot chocolate, NFL playoffs, the holidays, skiing and snowboarding...
And while ski mountains are gearing up for their busy season, rider safety is always of the utmost importance for every resort. And many mountains, like Copper Mountain in Colorado, are busy training this seasons finest group of avalanche rescue dogs - that are often the best way to detect back country skiers and snowboarders that get lost in the powder.
These dogs are incredible. They can cover a lot more ground in far less time than humans can, and their ability to use their sense of smell efficiently is unmatched. Just another reason dogs are awesome! Check out the video below Copper Mountain's Chris Gray working with one of his finest rescue pups, seven month old golden retriever, Mason.
